I found out years ago, when my children were young, that virtually no one within the general public could identify with me as a care provider or talk with me about caregiving. Back then, no one could (unless they were a caregiver themselves), fully comprehend how caregiving...can be truly all consuming, completely life changing, or how it can make a caregiver feel socially isolated from society at large.
Disheartened that this is the reality within which so many caregivers reside; I decided as my children grew older to return to school to complete my master's degree in counseling. I did so, with the intent of creating a counseling practice that goes well beyond addressing the common mental health concerns of: grief, depression & stress. I address needs and concerns specific to women and to caregivers.
As a licensed and nationally board certified counselor, I have learned and come to identify that caregivers often experience (certain types of) major life transitions. In response to this, I provide counseling (and comprehensive seminars) to caregivers on the highly sought after topics of:
